As some of you know we adopted a dog last week [male around 2 years old, mutt. I don't know how long he's been in the shelter before we got him]. He's sweet and good when we're around. The problem starts when he stays home alone- he chews almost everything he can reach- carrier bags, leash, pillows etc. We try to hide things from him as we leave but somehow he manages to grab other stuff and I'm afraid that one day he might bite something more valuable or he can hurt himself. We leave him his toys and bones but it doesn't seem to help a lot. I know he will PROBABLY get used to being alone for few hours but I'd like to prevent behaviours like that before he finally does. Any tips? Has anyone ever had problems like that and could share some advice? The last thing I want is to buy a dog crate... This is my first dog and I'd like him to have a good life.

Jak już niektórzy z Was wiedzą, w zeszłym tygodniu przygarnęliśmy psiaka [samiec, około 2 lat, kundel, nie wiem jak długo przebywał w schronisku zanim go wzięliśmy]. Jest kochany i grzeczny kiedy jesteśmy w domu, problem zaczyna się kiedy zostaje sam- gryzie prawie wszystko, do czego może sięgnąć- reklamówki, smycz, poduszki itd. Staramy się chować przed nim rzeczy ale jakoś udaje mu się dorwać co innego i mam obawy, że któregoś dnia pogryzie coś cennego albo zrobi sobie krzywdę. Zostawiamy mu zabawki i kości ale to niespecjalnie pomaga. Domyślam się, że PRAWDOPODOBNIE kiedyś się przyzwyczai do naszej nieobecności przez kilka godzin ale chciałabym zapobiec takim zachowaniom na przyszłość. Miał ktoś kiedykolwiek takie problemy ze swoim psem i mógłby udzielić kilku rad? Naprawdę nie chciałabym zamykać go w klatce. Dodam, że to mój pierwszy pies i chciałabym, żeby dobrze mu się żyło.
